Notes on Practice -- studio work⑤

I believe that the point of one person will reflect their interests. And we also can get people's mental state through their creative project. That is why many painters can do very dark, depressive paintings while other will have the bright, colourful images. Painting, in some term, is the reflection of individual's thoughts.

Throughout this year, I am trying to develop my painting language which I got when I studied in BA course. I am very glad that studying in this country and WCA allows me to seek my personality which is very important for an artist. Personality is effected by many reasons, such as personal experience, knowledge, and the understanding of the outside world.

I am not really inspired by any single painter or photographer. Almost all paintings and photographs which catch my eyes have the beautiful colors. I think colors carry the emotions. The color which Monet used makes me feel soft. And the color which we can see in Van Gogh' paintings are strong and power, full of emotions. I wanna catch the colors from the photograph, then bring the most directly feel which i get from the picture into my paintings. If we free all the lines, shapes of the objects, all we can see is the color and general shapes. And at the same time, we cannot always see this world clearly. I tend to make my paintings with the circular brush-makings. The colors are not totally mixed, but they will invade surroundings. The world is connected together, our live is connect together. And we cannot escape from the society. We are influenced by others. We are dyed by the outside in almost our whole life.

When I paint it I feel the brush-makings sometime make me remember the cells under the microscope. For me ,The texture of cells, blood vessels are always attractive. They bring me the feeling of living, and also destruction. Then I find my brush-making is quite similar with the painting which made by Wout Werensteijn.
