JUNCHI XU
The first opportunity to exhibit with my peers in MA Painting happened at the end of October 2015.
I learned new things about managing a group exhibition. This was the first time that I showed the source photographs and other references alongside my core work and I felt that this supported the small paintings and extended their interest and meaning.
I have had a few exhibitions before but usually I would just hang my painting on the wall and think that was quite enough for the exhibition. But when we have a group exhibition it is important to create an interaction between everyone's work. Including something that supports my work and helps me to express my ideas through the painting is a valuable point to think about in the future.

I took part in several auctions in China. My paintings were bought during these events. All these events are held by Bank of ShangHai almost every year. They tend to raise monery for the group of people who needs others' help. It is a chance to offer my little help to others who I don't even know it. And it is also an opportunity to show my work in the public and do marketing things. These are lots of people join in these events and people will have chance to see my works.

Interim Show -- About Space
Lewisham Arthouse (13th-24th April)
Link: Lewisham Arthouse
'The seven artists in this group exhibition are exploring the idea of space within their individual practices through a variety of different languages and media. They are interested in the relationship between landscape and consciousness and the way space is influenced by the objects that inhabit it. The movement of bodies through space, the relationships that objects establish with one another in space and the psychological and mnemonic relation with space are core ideas investigated in this exhibition. These artists are looking for the subject’s hidden dynamics that create new meanings, analogies and connections.'
I had a exhibition in Lewisham Arthouse with others from MA painting course. I discussed the name of the exhibition and the main idea of it. The exhibition space is large and comfortable. It is a good place to show the works. But for me that area is a bit far away from Wimbledon. And it is not near the traffic station. I have to go to this place on foot or transfer several time to get there. As I was in the holiday, I was not there until the openting day. My peers all did very good job. Team-work with others when we took down the show. I am very enjoy the process of packing and cleaning. Glad to see lots of people come to our show and love our works.
